AUSTIN, TX — A 45-year-old man died Monday night after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a service road in Austin’s St. Edwards area, reports KXAN.

The incident occurred on East Ben White Boulevard along the westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 290 shortly before 9:45 p.m.

An investigation indicates a 27-year-old man was driving a 2005 Toyota 4Runner westbound on the road when he fatally hit the crossing pedestrian.

The victim died from his injuries at the scene.

Austin police said the driver continued driving but was later located, arrested, and charged with failure to stop and render aid.
