AUSTIN, TX – One person died Friday morning in an auto-pedestrian crash along the freeway in north Austin, reports CBS Austin.
The accident occurred shortly after 6:30 a.m. on the southbound side of Mopac Expressway near West Parmer Lane. This is just north of HEB and east of Balcones Youth Sports.
Police haven’t yet determined the circumstances of the crash. They say the victim died at the scene after an unknown number of vehicles struck them in the roadway.
At least one of the drivers stopped to render aid and speak with authorities.
Officials closed the southbound side of MoPac for several hours while crews gathered evidence and worked to clear the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
