AUSTIN, TX — One person died Wednesday night after being hit by multiple cars on East U.S. Highway 290 in northeast Austin’s Coronado Hills, reports CBS Austin.
Authorities said the fatal incident occurred on the westbound lanes of the highway near Creekside Drive shortly before 7:39 p.m.
Few details have been provided, but Austin-Travis County EMS, Austin Fire crews, and Austin police responded to the scene where the victim was pronounced deceased.
At least one involved driver remained after the crash and cooperated with the investigation. It was not immediately clear whether they hit the victim first.
Motorists were told to expect an extended closure in the area as authorities conducted an investigation.
