AUSTIN, TX – Emergency teams responded to an injury accident at a busy intersection in south Austin on Sunday night, reports KXAN.
The incident happened sometime before 9 p.m. at East Oltorf Street and South Congress Avenue, which is northwest of Blunn Creek Nature Preserve and east of Gillis Neighborhood Park.
Police say that a pedestrian sustained critical injuries when a vehicle struck them in the intersection. Medics transported the victim to an area hospital.
Officials haven’t yet shared any information about the driver or vehicle involved in the wreck, nor have they clarified if the pedestrian was using a designated crosswalk when the accident occurred.
Motorists likely experienced significant delays in the area of Oltorf and Congress while crews helped the victim and worked to clear the scene.
