AUSTIN, TX – A pedestrian sustained serious injuries Saturday when a vehicle struck them in the St. Johns area of north-central Austin, reports CBS Austin.
The accident happened just after 8:30 p.m. on the northbound service road for I-35 at East St. Johns Avenue. This is just east of Webb Middle School and south of the intersection with US-183.
It’s unclear if the pedestrian was walking along the service road or attempting to cross the street when the collision occurred. There’s also no word about whether the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash stopped to render aid and speak with authorities.
Medics transported the victim to Dell Seton Medical Center as a trauma alert.
Officials warned drivers to expect delays in the area of the accident and to seek alternate routes when possible.
A full investigation is underway.
