AUSTIN, TX – A vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian just north of the Hancock area in central Austin on Thursday night, reports CBS Austin.

The incident happened around 9:40 p.m. just west of I-35 and Mueller Lake Park at the intersection of 45th Street and Airport Boulevard.

Police say that medics attempted CPR but that the pedestrian ultimately died at the scene of the accident.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the victim’s identity, nor have they specified whether the driver involved in the collision remained at the scene.

Officials encouraged drivers to expect delays and closures in the area while crews investigated and worked to clear the scene. 

The investigation is ongoing.
