AUSTIN, TX – Austin Police say that they’ve arrested the man responsible for causing a fatal crash in South Austin last Thursday.
According to KXAN, 44-year-old Ruben Ysasi drove his white Ford Excursion eastbound in the westbound lanes of SH-71 on the evening of October 5th and crashed head-on with a black Nissan Rogue, killing the driver of the second vehicle.
The incident happened around 5:07 a.m. just north of the airport.
Police say that Ysasi left the scene of the accident but was later detained and administered a field sobriety test and a breath test. Based on the results of these tests, authorities charged Ysasi with intoxication manslaughter and a car accident leading to death.
Authorities have not yet released the name of the victim in the crash.
