SAN MARCOS, TX – Police are looking for the driver of a box truck responsible for fatally striking a Texas State University student and then fleeing the scene earlier this month, KENS 5 reports.
The tragic incident occurred at about 2 a.m. on January 3. Iliana Velez, 19, was driving home on northbound I-35 after a late-night shift at the Amazon warehouse where she worked when she was hit by the box truck near Wonder World Drive. Velez’s vehicle rolled several times, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The box truck drove away from the incident without stopping. Its driver may face felony charges
