TRAVIS CO., TX – One person died, and another was seriously hurt in a rollover crash on the highway in eastern Travis County.

According to KXAN, the incident happened around 12:36 a.m. Friday in the area of 5546 to 5552 State Highway 71. This is just west of the Bastrop County line.

Police say that a vehicle overturned on the eastbound side of the highway, trapping one person. Emergency crews performed CPR on another person and then worked to extricate the trapped victim.

The first person died at the scene, while the other victim went to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center in critical condition.

Authorities have not yet released the name of the deceased, and the cause of the accident remains under investigation with APD.
