SAN MARCOS, TX – Both drivers died on Friday morning in an accident involving a car and a dump truck along the interstate in San Marcos.

According to CBS Austin, the incident happened around 8 a.m. on the northbound side of I-35 near McCarty Lane, which is just east of the San Marcos Aquatic Resources Center.

The investigation thus far indicates that an 18-wheeler struck a concrete wall on the interstate after veering across several lanes of traffic when a tire blew out. The truck spilled gravel during the crash, which hit a southbound car.

Officials have not yet released the names of the drivers killed in the crash.

A full investigation is underway.
