MILAM CO., TX – Emergency teams confirmed three fatalities and one injury Monday night after a multi-vehicle crash in Milam County, reports KCENTV 6.
The accident happened around 4:40 p.m., south of Milano and near TX-36 and FM 340. This is just over an hour northeast of Austin.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of a 2025 Freightliner truck tractor failed to decelerate appropriately and struck the rear of both a Ford sedan and a 2015 Kia SUV.
All three people in the sedan died at the scene. Authorities identified the victims as Meaghan Nicole McCaffety, 39; her 43-year-old husband, Clint McCaffety; and their 16-year-old son, Connor McCaffety.
The driver of the Kia went to a Temple hospital with injuries of unknown severity.
It’s unclear if the 26-year-old truck driver was hurt in the collision, nor do we know if he will face charges.
A full investigation is underway.
