BEE CAVES, TX – Officials closed several lanes of Highway 71 in Bee Caves on Wednesday after an 18-wheeler accident and subsequent fuel spill, reports KVUE.
The incident happened just before 5:30 a.m. on Highway 71 between Great Divide Drive and Bee Cave Parkway, which is near White Rock Cemetery.
The investigation thus far indicates that a semi-truck struck a diesel drum that had been left in the roadway. The force of the collision caused the drum to break, which spilled oil into the roadway.
It is unclear at this time if anyone sustained injuries in the crash.
The oil spill caused extended road closures as crews worked to clear the scene. A full investigation is underway.
