BELTON, TX – A 37-year-old Temple man died Tuesday when a train struck him in central Bell County, reports KCENTV 6 News.
Emergency teams responded to the train tracks in the area of Waco Road and East 10th Avenue in Belton sometime before 3 p.m. This is about an hour northeast of Austin.
Police say that the victim appears to have entered the train’s path on purpose.
Authorities identified the victim as Jonathan Garcia.
Officials say the train blocked several roadways in the area of the crash; these roads remained closed while crews worked at the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
