AUSTIN, TX – Medics transported one person to the hospital on Wednesday night after a vehicle struck them at a busy intersection in south Austin.

According to CBS Austin, the incident happened around 11:15 p.m. at the intersection of Burton Drive and East Riverside Drive, which is just south of Lady Bird Lake and northwest of HEB Plus.

The circumstances of the crash are still unclear. Police say that the pedestrian suffered critical injuries, for which they were taken to Dell Seton Medical Center on a trauma alert.

Officials have not yet clarified whether the vehicle involved in the crash remained at the scene.
