AUSTIN, TX – One person died on New Year’s Day after a vehicle struck them along the interstate in the St. John’s area of north Austin, reports ATCEMS.

The incident happened at 12:59 a.m. on the southbound side of I-35 North, near the intersection with Huntland Drive and just east of Austin Community College’s Highland Campus.
The pedestrian died at the scene. Authorities have not yet disclosed their identity.
Officials warned of delays and closures in the area of the crash while crews worked at the scene.
