AUSTIN, TX – One person died Friday night after a vehicle struck them at a busy intersection in South Austin.

According to CBS Austin, the accident occurred at 10:23 p.m. near the intersection of Menchaca Road and Sedgemoor Trail, which is between West Slaughter Lane and West Dittmar Road.

The circumstances of the accident are still unclear, and police haven’t confirmed whether the vehicle stopped to render aid and answer questions.

Authorities pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the scene. They’ve not yet publicly identified the victim.

Officials encouraged drivers to avoid Menchaca Road in the area of the crash while crews investigated and worked to clear the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
