AUSTIN, TX – Police released new details today regarding a fatal crash on Tuesday that was initially characterized as an auto versus pedestrian crash.
According to KXAN, the victim in the collision was actually a bicyclist. Authorities have not yet released the cyclist’s name.
The incident occurred around 8:38 a.m. in the area of 1100 North Lamar Boulevard, which is between West 11th Street and West 12th Street.
Police say the cyclist fell off of their bike and landed in the roadway, at which point a pickup truck struck them. The bicyclist died at the scene of the accident.
The driver of the pickup truck was unhurt and stayed at the scene to speak with authorities.
A full investigation is underway.
