AUSTIN, TX — A woman in her late 20s died Thursday night after being struck by a young driver who fled the scene in the North Lamar area of North Austin, according to FOX 7 Austin.

The fatal accident took place at the intersection of Masterson Pass and North Lamar Boulevard at approximately 11:30 p.m.

Witnesses said a black sedan struck the woman and promptly drove away.

Austin police later received a call from the driver’s father, saying his son believed he had crashed into a pedestrian.

The causing driver, a 19-year-old man, was arrested in Round Rock.
