AUSTIN, TX – According to the Austin-Travis County EMS, one person was trapped in their vehicle after a two-car accident on Highway 71 this morning in Austin. Firefighters from the Austin Fire Department, as well as medics from the ATCEMS, were on the scene at the 3000 block of westbound Highway 71 at around 8:41 a.m. They found that two vehicles were involved in the crash, and one vehicle was positioned in such a way that the occupant was unable to escape.
The emergency responders were able to extract the victim and transport them to South Austin Medical Center for treatment of critical injuries. The other person involved in the accident was injured but refused EMS transport. No other details on the accident have been released at this time.
