AUSTIN, TX – The Austin Statesman reports that two women died this past Tuesday when their vehicle collided with a freight fuel truck at the intersection of northbound Texas 130 and Westbound Texas 71. Officers arrived at the scene of the accident shortly before midnight.
Police say the 23-year-old driver, Margarita Escalante Ibarra, was driving on westbound 71 when she ran a red light and drove straight into the fuel truck. Both Ibarra and her passenger, 22-year-old Alejandra Berenice-Sanabria-Alejandro, were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The fuel truck driver was uninjured in the crash.
